Abstract
El acceso a los servicios públicos domiciliarios es fundamental para garantizar la calidad de vida y el desarrollo social de las comunidades. No obstante, en sectores como el barrio La Santa Cruz, del municipio de Itagüí, la regularización de estos servicios representa un reto significativo debido a condiciones de informalidad y capacidades institucionales limitadas. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar el impacto social generado por la formalización del acceso a servicios esenciales como el agua potable, la energía eléctrica y el saneamiento básico en dicho sector. Se aplicó una metodología de enfoque mixto. En la fase cualitativa se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a líderes comunitarios, funcionarios públicos y habitantes, mientras que en la fase cuantitativa se aplicó una encuesta estructurada a 108 personas. El análisis integró herramientas de estadística descriptiva y análisis de contenido, permitiendo identificar transformaciones sociales asociadas al proceso de regularización. Los resultados evidencian que el 71% de los encuestados percibe mejoras en su calidad de vida tras la normalización de los servicios, especialmente en aspectos como salud e higiene (58,5%), acceso a educación virtual (50,9%) y generación de ingresos (43,4%). El 86% de los hogares cuenta con servicios formalizados desde hace más de tres años, con coberturas de 99,7% en agua potable, 98,1% en energía eléctrica y 88% en alcantarillado. La percepción de calidad también es positiva, ya que el 67,3% califica los servicios entre “buenos” y “muy buenos”. Sin embargo, aún persisten barreras como la desorganización comunitaria (37,5%)
Access to public home services is essential to guarantee the quality of life and social development of communities. However, in sectors such as the La Santa Cruz neighborhood, in the municipality of Itagüí, the regularization of these services represents a significant challenge due to conditions of informality and limited institutional capacities. This research aimed to analyze the social impact generated by the formalization of access to essential services such as drinking water, electricity and basic sanitation in said sector. A mixed approach methodology was applied. In the qualitative phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted with community leaders, public officials and residents, while in the quantitative phase, a structured survey was applied to 108 people. The analysis integrated descriptive statistics and content analysis tools, allowing the identification of social transformations associated with the regularization process. The results show that 71% of those surveyed perceive improvements in their quality of life after the normalization of services, especially in aspects such as health and hygiene (58.5%), access to virtual education (50.9%) and income generation (43.4%). 86% of homes have formalized services for more than three years, with coverage of 99.7% in drinking water, 98.1% in electricity and 88% in sewage.
