Abstract
Cervical cancer is a type of malignant tumor that affects the cervix (the lower part of the uterus) and can be diagnosed through exams such as the Pap smear and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) test. This virus is one of the main causes of the development of this disease and can be prevented through vaccination in girls, adolescents, and women between the ages of 9 and 17 (National Cancer Institute, 2023). Despite medical advances, there are still barriers to accessing clear and timely information that allows for the prevention and early treatment of this disease. According to Bulletin 558 issued in Bogotá on March 26, 2024, 30,997 cases of cervical cancer were reported in Colombia in 2022. Additionally, 4,742 new cases were identified, representing a rate of 14.9 per 100,000 inhabitants (Defensoría del Pueblo, 2024). This disease is considered one of the leading causes of death among women aged 30 to 59, highlighting the need to implement communication strategies that strengthen prevention and self-care. This project is developed under a journalistic research methodology, through which background information is analyzed, scientific literature is reviewed, reported cases are examined, and interviews are conducted with healthcare professionals and women with knowledge or experience regarding the disease. All of this aims to inform the audience through a multiplatform narrative that reveals the level of access to information among patients attending healthcare centers seeking medical attention
