Abstract
This essay presents the different causes and most outstanding general theories on the main variables that influence the failure of entrepreneurships in Colombia and some strategies to improve risk management, since most cases are limited to variables such as: capital; growth; an administration with little experience and lack of adaptation; which ultimately end in costly errors. However, we can see that the companies that are least maintained beyond 5 years of operation are microenterprises, thus generating factors such as the size of the company, innovation and technology, which are of great importance at the time of the preliminary study or planning of the project, decision making and the result of its maintenance over time. Given that new entrepreneurs are determined to create a business, they are often faced with doubt, anxiety, fear, and the need to increase their resources on their own, whether to find a means of financial support or an additional income that allows them to generate capital, improve their economy, and in many cases not depend on any company or boss. Although progress has been made, the research requires special attention to the misinformation that exists about entrepreneurship at the time of making the decision to start, with the way in which the information is shown, how it is transmitted, and the jargon in which it is presented being fundamental
