Abstract
Background: This document is a narrative review of Colombian research on the emotional impact of the armed conflict on victimized families. Studies published between 2004 and 2024 were analyzed, addressing experiences, testimonies, and psychological affectations derived from sociopolitical violence. The purpose is to understand, from a narrative approach, how families construct meaning around their experiences and what emotional impacts are reported in the literature. Methods: Qualitative and narrative studies in Spanish (2004–2024) focused on the Colombian context were included; international studies, quantitative designs, and works without empirical evidence were excluded. The search was conducted in Redalyc, SciELO, Dialnet, and the National Center for Historical Memory. A narrative thematic analysis was applied to identify patterns, testimonies, and psychosocial categories. Results: The initial search identified 42 documents; 32 were excluded due to methodological or thematic irrelevance. The remaining 10 studies met the criteria of Colombian authorship and qualitative– narrative approach. These provided testimonies and analyses on subjective experiences, emotional affectations, and meaning-making processes in victimized families. Discussion: The evidence shows emotional impacts such as fear, grief, uprooting, and disrupted family bonds, along with resilience processes mediated by memory, storytelling, and community support. Limitations include small samples, territorial bias, and lack of longitudinal studies. It is recommended to strengthen family-centered psychosocial interventions, expand symbolic reparation, and promote research with broader territorial coverage and methodological rigor.
