Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of permissive parenting on the socio-emotional development of school-aged children at the San Joaquín rural school, located in the municipality of Arboledas, Norte de Santander. Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interview and a focus group were conducted with elementary school students to explore the characteristics of parenting practices and their implications for children's emotional and social lives. The results show a significant presence of behaviors associated with permissive parenting, such as the absence of clear rules, lack of supervision, poor emotional regulation, low frustration tolerance, and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. These findings provide insight into how the family environment directly influences the development of socio-emotional skills during childhood, a crucial stage for the consolidation of personality and social adaptation. Based on this diagnosis, a psychoeducational guide was designed for parents and caregivers, with the aim of providing practical tools that promote positive parenting styles, foster empathy, assertive communication, limit-setting, and emotional support. This proposal seeks to strengthen the relationship between family and school, contributing to the comprehensive development of children from a humanistic, affective, and participatory perspective.
