Abstract
Emotional expressions in children and adolescents with special educational needs are understood from various theories that are related to reactions to the environment that directly influence behavior and cognitive processes. This research work analyzes the way in which they express their emotions in the classroom during the educational process, in the San Jorge communal educational institution, district of Nueva Colonia in the port, logistics, industrial and commercial district of Turbo Antioquia. The research approach is qualitative, the design is the phenomenological interview and the technique used to analyze the information is the Atlas.ti program. Twelve surveys are applied for this purpose, of which six were for children and adolescents, three for teachers and three for parents. The results indicate that the competencies proposed by the Ministry of National Education for the entire educational system, such as cognitive, emotional and communicative, are not enough for the comprehensive development of this population, which is why emotions of sadness, frustration and shame arise, not being able to face school tasks. However, the strongest emotion identified after the analysis is the joy of attending school and the valuable support of their parents and teachers in regulating their emotions, despite not having the knowledge about the methodology and suitable tools for emotional accompaniment.
