Abstract
Abstract This research explores the experience of shaping community care among women who are part of a Knitting Club in the 13 de Noviembre neighborhood, La Primavera sector, in the city of Medellín, based on the care relationships that emerge within the Club’s spaces for conversation. From a qualitative approach and a community psychosocial perspective, a situated methodological proposal was developed, which designed two strategies for knowledge construction and interaction: Knowledge Encounters and Alterative Conversations. Additionally, the practice of knitting enabled the interweaving of dialogue, affections, and shared memories. The findings show that the Knitting Club functions as a safe space where experiences are shared, networks of trust are built, and collective agency is strengthened. Care relationships are expressed as reciprocal practices. These practices, when collectively recognized and named, generate community echoes that reinforce a sense of belonging and neighborhood organization. It is concluded that the experience of shaping community care in this context not only sustains emotional bonds and support networks but also fosters forms of participation and redefinition of how care is given and received. When care practices are interwoven with the meanings of the common, they enhance community dynamics that strengthen solidarity, resilience, and the capacity of communities to recognize themselves as agents of social transformation.
