This study investigates the implementation of a collective public transportation consortium in the city of Pereira, Colombia, with the objective of improving operational efficiency and reducing costs associated with the transportation service. Currently, Pereira has seven independent transportation companies that operate without centralized coordination, which has resulted in significant inefficiencies. The theoretical framework is based on the theory of interorganizational cooperation, highlighting the importance of integration and optimization of resources through successful models in cities such as Singapore, Curitiba, Stockholm, and Bogotá. The methodology adopted is a quantitative approach, combining quantitative methods to evaluate the economic benefits of the consortium, the perceptions of the actors involved and the data collected. The hypotheses formulated suggest that the formation of the consortium will allow a significant reduction in operating costs, as well as a decrease in empty mileage and an improvement in the profitability of the participating companies. The centralization of operations and the unification of personnel are proposed as key strategies to achieve these objectives. The study seeks to provide a comprehensive analysis that not only highlights the potential benefits of the consortium, but also addresses the challenges and resistance to change that could arise during its implementation.
