Abstract
The purpose of this research was to analyze the impact of family nutrition on the nutritional status of children at the "Creciendo Felices" Child Development Center (CDI) in San José de Cúcuta, Norte de Santander. Socioeconomic and cultural factors that influence children's nutrition were identified, as well as how these can affect their physical and cognitive development. Using a quantitative methodology with a descriptive and non-experimental approach, surveys were applied to parents to identify eating habits at home. The data were processed and analyzed in order to determine correlations between the nutritional status of children and their socioeconomic conditions. The results showed that, although children who benefit from ICBF receive 70% of their nutritional requirements at the CDI, the remaining 30% depend on food at home, which in many cases is deficient in quality and quantity. It was found that the lack of economic resources, the low educational level of caregivers, the lack of knowledge about child nutrition and the lack of access to nutritious foods are determining factors in the nutritional deficit of children. In addition, a high prevalence of consumption of ultra-processed products and low levels of dietary diversity was identified in the homes of the children surveyed
