Abstract
Los accidentes de tránsito generan importantes pérdidas económicas para las
personas, sus familias y los países en general. En la mayoría de los países, los accidentes de
tránsito representan un costo equivalente al 3% de su Producto Interno Bruto (PIB). Estas
pérdidas provienen de los gastos en tratamiento, la reducción de la productividad de quienes
mueren o quedan discapacitados, y el tiempo que los familiares deben dedicar a cuidar a los
afectados (OMS, 2023).
Según la organización mundial de la salud - OMS cada año, alrededor de 1,19 millones
de personas mueren debido a siniestros viales. Entre 20 y 50 millones sufren lesiones no
mortales, muchas de las cuales generan discapacidad.
A nivel nacional el observatorio de la Agencia Nacional de Seguridad Vial – ANSV
muestra estadísticas que indican que, en lo que va del 2025 se han presentado 639 muertes
por accidente de tránsito, entre las causas probables se tiene exceso de velocidad con un
41.23% y en segundo lugar desobedecer señales de tránsito con un 39.34% (ANSV, 2025).
Por lo anterior, se debe prestar atención a la seguridad vial, ya que la actividad
económica de la empresa es el transporte, y que, en caso de materializarse un siniestro vial
además de pérdidas humanas, económicas, operativas y mala imagen, se debe sumar el daño
ambiental que un derrame de sustancias peligrosas puede generar

These losses stem from treatment expenses, reduced productivity of those who die or become disabled, and the time that family members must dedicate to caring for the affected individuals (WHO, 2023). According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1.19 million people die each year due to road traffic accidents. Between 20 and 50 million suffer non-fatal injuries, many of which result in disability. Nationally, the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) observatory shows statistics indicating that, so far in 2025, there have been 639 deaths due to traffic accidents. Among the probable causes, speeding is the leading cause at 41.23%, followed by disobeying traffic signals at 39.34% (ANSV, 2025). Therefore, attention must be paid to road safety, since the company's economic activity is transportation, and in the event of a traffic accident, in addition to human, economic, and operational losses, as well as negative public image, the environmental damage that a spill of hazardous substances can cause must also be considered.
