Abstract
Este trabajo de grado se enfoca en abordar una de las problemáticas en la red de acueducto principal de la ciudad de Ibagué relacionado con el fraude en el sistema, proponiendo una combinación de soluciones y estrategias tecnológicas y comunitarias para proteger y optimizar el uso del recurso hídrico. A través de un enfoque metodológico mixto, se realizaron encuestas a ciudadanos de las comunas más afectadas y a trabajadores de la entidad, además de una entrevista con la directora comercial. Estos métodos permitieron entender las percepciones sobre el problema y evaluar la efectividad de las estrategias actuales. Los resultados destacan la necesidad de implementar tecnologías como medidores inteligentes y sistemas de análisis de datos para detectar fraudes en tiempo real. Además, se resalta la importancia de educar a la comunidad y capacitar al personal para fomentar una cultura de transparencia y responsabilidad. La propuesta busca no solo reducir las pérdidas por fraude, sino también asegurar un servicio de acueducto más sostenible y justo para los ciudadanos de Ibagué
This thesis focuses on addressing one of the main issues in the water supply network of Ibagué, related to fraud in the system, by proposing a combination of technological and community-based solutions and strategies to protect and optimize the use of the water resource. Through a mixed-method approach, surveys were conducted with citizens from the most affected neighborhoods and employees of the entity, in addition to an interview with the commercial director. These methods allowed for an understanding of the perceptions of the problem and an assessment of the effectiveness of the current strategies. The results highlight the need to implement technologies such as smart meters and data analysis systems to detect fraud in real time. Furthermore, the importance of educating the community and training staff is emphasized to foster a culture of transparency and responsibility. The proposal aims not only to reduce losses due to fraud but also to ensure a more sustainable and fair water service for the citizens of Ibagué
