Abstract
En este trabajo se identificó el rol que cumple el profesional de Trabajo Social en las Intervenciones Asistidas con Animales; para la recolección de información se realizó una investigación en diferentes bases de datos y se complementó mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas dirigidas a tres instituciones diferentes ubicadas en varios municipios de Antioquia, los cuales fueron Medellín, Envigado y la Ceja, dos de las fundaciones realizan intervención integrando caninos y la última mencionada con equinos. Los resultados evidencian que en Colombia el rol del trabajador social en las IAA es algo nuevo, donde se identifican novedosos campos laborales para la profesión; haciendo parte de estas intervenciones impactando a las diferentes poblaciones desde las labores que el profesional ejecuta ya sea desde la planeación, gestión, aplicación y seguimiento en el proceso. Por esto, la tesis que se defiende es que el trabajador social tiene un posicionamiento en este tipo de intervenciones, aunque no en todas las instituciones se presente un profesional social, se ha demostrado que, si tiene participación y funciones en los diferentes escenarios como gerontológicos, salud, centros penitenciarios y psiquiatría. Asimismo, se identifica que, debido a ser un tema relativamente nuevo en Colombia, se ha convertido en un reto profesional darle un posicionamiento en las IAA en las instituciones que lo requieren, y esto se evidencia en las profesionales entrevistadas de esta investigación, ya que para poder iniciar sus fundaciones debieron demostrar resultados verificables, lo que conlleva a años de practica y de respuestas positivas referente a las Intervenciones Asistidas con Animales.
The purpose of this work is to identify the role of the Social Work professional in Animal Assisted Interventions; for the collection of information, research was conducted in different databases and was complemented by semi-structured interviews directed to three different institutions located in several municipalities of Antioquia, which were Medellin, Envigado and La Ceja, two of the foundations perform interventions integrating canines and the last one mentioned with equines. The results show that in Colombia the role of the social worker in AAI is something new, where new labor fields for the profession are identified; being part of these interventions impacting the different populations from the tasks that the professional executes either from the planning, management, application and follow-up in the process. For this reason, the thesis that is defended is that the social worker has a position in this type of interventions, although not in all institutions there is a social professional, it has been demonstrated that he/she has participation and functions in different scenarios such as gerontological, health, penitentiary and psychiatric centers. Likewise, it is identified that, due to being a relatively new topic in Colombia, it has become a professional challenge to give it a position in AAI in the institutions that require it, and this is evidenced in the professionals interviewed in this research, since in order to start their foundations they had to demonstrate verifiable results, which leads to years of practice and positive responses regarding Animal Assisted Interventions.
