Abstract
This study aims to describe the social representations associated with marijuana use as a cultural practice among students who frequent the Minuto de Dios microfútbol field, Sector 1. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach within a historical-hermeneutic paradigm and an ethnographic method, integrating the experimental synthesis of behavior and the theory of social representations as methodological tools. Semi-structured interviews were administered to eight undergraduate students, all of legal age, who reported regular marijuana use at the microfútbol field. The data were analyzed using ATLAS.ti software, which allowed for the identification of the central core and the peripheral system of the social representations related to consumption. Based on this analysis and the guiding categories, an additional category emerged, termed social consumption, which specifies the way consumption develops through interaction with others, highlighting its collective and relational nature. This study seeks to contribute to the literature on marijuana use within the educational context of Uniminuto, with the purpose of informing prevention and health promotion strategies grounded in an understanding of students’ real experiences. In this way, the research offers an integrative perspective that combines behavioral analysis with sociocultural processes, enabling the understanding of consumption as a collective and meaningful practice within the university environment.
