Abstract
This undergraduate project aims to propose educational strategies in first aid for the settlements of Luz de Esperanza, Cervunión, and Caminos de Paz, located in northern Bucaramanga. These communities, with approximately 429 inhabitants in conditions of social vulnerability and limited access to health services, show a clear need to strengthen their knowledge and capacity to respond to daily emergencies. To support the proposal, the research adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative techniques. On the quantitative side, a structured survey was administered to 32 adults from 30 households, selected through nonprobability convenience sampling, in order to identify levels of knowledge, attitudes, and basic first-aid practices, and to examine their relationship with sociodemographic variables such as age, gender, and education. In parallel, the qualitative component, based on interviews and direct observation, allowed a deeper understanding of the community’s perceptions, experiences, and barriers regarding health training. The study employed a correlational, cross-sectional design, providing a snapshot of the community’s situation. The findings serve as the basis for the formulation of educational proposals adapted to the local context, without implying practical implementation at this stage. Thus, the results are limited to the conceptual and methodological design of alternatives in first-aid education, which may guide future interventions, serve as an academic reference, and contribute to the discussion on health promotion and prevention strategies in vulnerable populations.
