Abstract
The research "Cultural Transitions Between Rural and Urban Areas Among 11th-Grade Students at the Colegio Departamental Integrado de La Calera, Based on Narratives of Their Life Experiences," is situated within the field of study that links Communication and Education in Culture. Specifically, this research aims to contribute to the School of Decolonial Pedagogies for Buen Vivir. Through life micro-narratives, it seeks to enrich the problematization of the pedagogical dialogue between teachers and students by integrating diverse cultural contexts and vital experiences into the educational process. Cultural transitions are a developing category that serves as a starting point to explore how, from a border space strained between two worlds—the rural and the urban— in a municipality like La Calera, subjects are constituted based on the ideological determinations derived from capitalist Enlightenment modernity, Spanish colonialism, and local cultural practices. This inquiry is grounded in theories that critique the conception of the modern subject in science, arguing that, far from being an entity that produces or defines the nature of realities, the subject is, in fact, a product of these realities, shaped by the determinations imposed by a specific era and context. In particular, the modern subject is defined as a result of the divisions that culture has established between knowledge and truth, subjectivity and objectivity, reflection and action, memory and project.
