La vejez es un ciclo de la vida por el cual, los seres humanos presentan cambios significativos, no solo físicos, sino emocionales y sociales, por consiguiente, esta etapa se caracteriza por transiciones importantes que delimitan el bienestar y los procesos de sociabilidad en los sujetos. En este sentido esta investigación se centró en las representaciones sociales de la vejez en un grupo de personas mayores del “Centro Vida” en la ciudad de Guadalajara de Buga en el 2024. El diseño metodológico se basó en un
enfoque cualitativo de corte descriptivo. La población objeto de estudio fueron los integrantes caracterizados por la secretaría de bienestar social de la ciudad principalmente el grupo Centro Vida, la muestra fue seleccionada por conveniencia contando con la participación de 6 personas mayores de 60 a 80. La herramienta de recolección de información fue la entrevista semiestructurada. Dentro de los hallazgos principales de evidencia que las representaciones sociales de las personas mayores están compuestas aspectos físicos, emocionales y sociales. Se encontró que las personas mayores cumplen un papel fundamental en la sociedad aportando experiencia y sabiduría desde sus contextos de desarrollo, del mismo modo la influencia de la familia es fundamental en el proceso de construcción de ser persona mayor.
Old age is a life cycle through which human beings present significant changes, not only physical, but also emotional and social, therefore this stage is characterized by important transitions that delimit the well-being and sociability processes of the subjects. In this sense, this research focused on the social representations of old age in a group of older people from the “Centro Vida” in the city of Guadalajara de Buga in 2024. The methodological design was based on a qualitative, descriptive approach. The population under study were the members characterized by the secretary of social welfare of the city, mainly the Centro Vida group, the sample was selected by convenience with the participation of 6 people older than 60 to 80. The information collection tool was the semi-structured interview. Among the main findings of evidence that the social representations of older people are composed of physical, emotional and social aspects. It was found that older people play a fundamental role in society by providing experience and wisdom from their development contexts, in the same way the influence of the family is fundamental in the construction process of being an older person.

Objetivo general: Conocer las representaciones sociales sobre ser persona mayor que construyen las personas mayores del grupo “Centro Vida” de Zanjón Hondo atendidos por la Secretaría de Bienestar Social de la alcaldía de Guadalajara de Buga en el 2024.
