Abstract
The objective of this study was to establish how the diagnosis of HIV/AIDS affects the Quality of Life of people diagnosed with ages between 30 and 50 years residing in the Municipality of Guadalajara de Buga, Department of Valle del Cauca, Colombia. The data collection technique was carried out through the application of the interview that was of a semi-structured type. The total sample consisted of two men and two women diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. The data analysis was carried out taking as analysis categories four of the eight central dimensions of Quality of Life proposed by the authors Schalock and Verdugo, which were: physical well-being, emotional well-being, interpersonal well-being and social inclusion, thus managing to analyze the categories that were raised according to the information provided by the people interviewed. Which were developed in chapters I, "my key body for my physical health and living fully", chapter II "emotionally coping with my diagnosis", chapter III "interference of interpersonal relationships with my development" and chapter IV "My interaction with the environment", ending with the conclusions which reflect that the dimensions of quality of life addressed are not met in an ideal way, influencing the diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, to maintain well-being in the development of their daily life.
