Con el pasar del tiempo la responsabilidad social ha adquirido importancia en el ámbito laboral, académico y social, desde la educación se permite tener un mejor concepto, formando profesionales con más sentido de pertenencia y socialmente responsable. Sin embargo, la gran mayoría de las universidades en el contexto latinoamericano han venido contribuyendo a la transformación social, brindando conocimientos y promoviendo impactos positivos en los territorios y generando mayor bienestar social.Para la investigación se utilizó una metodología descriptiva, documental con una muestra de seis universidades, tres universidades oficiales y tres privadas del Valle de Aburra del departamento de Antioquia, en proyectos y prácticas que contribuyen a la sostenibilidadEntre los resultados se pudo evidenciar que las universidades seleccionadas realizan proyectos que están articulados con los objetivos y planes de desarrollo sostenible Contribuyendo a una sociedad con mayor equidad e inclusión social para las poblaciones más necesitadas en las regiones donde se realizó la investigación y replicables a otros escenarios
Social responsibility has become of great importance in our laboral, academic and social aspects of our life. A better concept can be grasped from education, forming better professionals that are more responsible towards society. Nonetheless, most universities in the Latin American context have made great contributions to social transformation trough knowledge divulgation and promoting positive impacts in the territories and improving social wellbeing. For the purpose of this research a descriptive methodology was used with samples from six universities from which three are private universities and three are public that are from Aburra’s Valley region in projects and practices that contributes to sustainability. From the results was observed that the selected universities make projects that are in sync with the objectives and plans in place of sustainable development, contributing to a society with better equality and social inclusion for the region that are most in need that made part of the study and that can be replicated other regions.
