Abstract: Marketing has changed throughout history, the previous ways were television, press and radio, which were the most common means of promoting a product. In the modern world the Internet has taken over with applications, smartphones, tablets, etc. Although it is true, that the world is immersing itself in a digital era, corporates need to be not unaware of these situations and keep up with a fast pace marketing world.In the present investigation, an analysis of the marketing techniques that have worked throughout history is carried out, a bibliographic search is made wheregreat characters in the history of marketing are studied. This investigation allows to understand the previous methods. The new ideas and trends they present for the handling of marketing are also analyzed, and the advantages of what the digital marketingbrings. Corporates can determine how positive the implementations are without the need of high advertising costs.Finally, the application of a digital marketing strategy for retail companies of sporting goods in the Valle de Aburra Sur sector is proposed. This would allow to compete with large corporates at the same level, at least in which respects in advertising and digital marketing. Also, it would help companies to show their products and reach new customers through digital world. This can quickly impact new potential consumers and It should be noted that companies without sells won’t survive in a fast pace world.
