Abstract
In our current society, great changes have been generated in all areas, be they social, cultural, scientific, technological, among others. The family as an institution and fundamental base of society has not been alien to these transformations. The family nucleus integrated by father, mother and children has moved to what we know today as single-parent families, where only one of the parents is present, with mothers being the most predominant in this type of family. It is in this panorama where the present research work is circumscribed, which had as main objective to analyze the influence of the absence of the father figure in the educational and social processes of the children of the Pequeños Saltarines children's home in the municipality of Barbosa. Which was carried out through interpretative research that is based on a holistic-inductive-ideographic approach, that is, it studies reality in its entirety, without fragmenting and contextualizing it. It was found that the absence of the father figure in single-parent families with feminine authority generates effects that in the great majority of cases become negative for the children, for a child in its first years of life it is not easy to understand the separation of their parents, because he is in a stage where he requires attention and care from both parents.
