Abstract
The thesis entitled "Analysis of plastic towards sustainable development oriented to opportunities, practices and challenges in Medellín-Colombia" by research group II, of the specialization in Project Management at UNIMINUTO, explores the impact of plastic on the sustainable development of the inhabitants of Medellín, Antioquia. The research focuses its analysis on the Belén neighborhood, with a special focus on Codiplax SAS, a plastic packaging company located in this area. Codiplax has become a local reference by implementing circular economy and sustainability practices within its production processes, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the region. This study seeks to answer the question of how plastic can contribute to sustainable development, identifying opportunities, responsible practices and challenges at the level of sustainability. For this, two main approaches were used: documentary research and empirical analysis through surveys and interviews. The documentary research allowed us to contextualize the global and local opportunities and challenges facing the plastics sector, while the surveys, analyzed with the statistical software JASP, and the interviews offered a closer perspective on the perceptions of the community and Codiplax management regarding the impact of plastic. The results of the surveys and interviews revealed that, although there is a general negative perception about plastic in terms of environmental pollution, its relevance is also recognized in strategic sectors such as the food industry and transportation. The statistical data obtained reflect that the majority of respondents consider it essential to work on sustainable practices and on the reuse and recycling of plastic materials
