Abstract
Slow tourism is considered a vacation consumption model that encourages tourists to stay longer at a destination. This promotes a more authentic and mindful experience when visiting a place, fostering a deeper connection with the local culture and the region's unique ecosystem. The eastern region of Caldas (Colombia), specifically in the municipality of Marulanda, located in the central-eastern area of the department of Caldas, has comparative advantages over other regions for generating tourism revenue, due to its natural wealth and the presence of unexplored areas from a tourism perspective. Given this, there is a need to analyze strategies that promote tourism in Marulanda, Caldas, as it is a destination with all the potential and characteristics to develop slow tourism. From this perspective, it can also be understood that if slow tourism is not managed properly, it could create problems related to the lack of optimization and use of its cultural, environmental, and economic potential. This work aims to design strategies that will lead to the development of tourism resources in the municipality of Marulanda, Caldas. Additionally, this document seeks to provide guidance to institutions interested in designing viable social, environmental, and economic development projects by identifying strengths and weaknesses in the execution of tourism actions and factors affecting the use of tourism resources based on a development plan.
