La presente investigación se realizó con el propósito de identificar los factores asociados a la aparición de depresión postparto en madres estudiantes de la corporación universitaria minuto de Dios.
El estudio tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo y un alcance descriptivo. La población estuvo conformada por 10 mujeres estudiantes universitarias de diferentes semestres, seleccionadas mediante un muestreo intencional no probabilístico, asegurando que las participantes fueran madres y que hubieran presentado un diagnóstico de depresión postparto en los últimos dos años. Para la recolección de la información se empleó un instrumento compuesto por dos partes: una caracterización sociodemográfica integrada de 11 preguntas, y una encuesta de identificación de factores de riesgo en la depresión postparto conformada por 34 preguntas.
Los resultados obtenidos permitieron evidenciar que la depresión postparto en madres estudiantes universitarias no se explica únicamente por factores individuales, sino también por condiciones estructurales y contextuales. Se identificó que las participantes enfrentaron diversos desafíos que afectaron su bienestar emocional, desempeño académico y calidad de vida durante el periodo de postparto. Estos hallazgos resaltan la importancia de que las instituciones de educación superior reconozcan y atiendan las necesidades particulares de las madres estudiantes mediante la implementación de estrategias institucionales orientadas al bienestar y la permanencia académica de las mujeres que atraviesan esta etapa de su vida.
Abstract The present research was conducted with the purpose of analyzing the factors associated with the occurrence of postpartum depression in student mothers from Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios. The study had a quantitative approach and a descriptive scope. The population consisted of ten university student mothers from different semesters, selected through intentional non-probabilistic sampling, nsuring that the participants were mothers who had been diagnosed with postpartum depression in the last two years. For data collection, an instrument composed of two parts was used: a sociodemographic characterization consisting of eleven questions, and a survey for identifying risk factors in postpartum depression, made up of thirty-four questions. The results obtained made it possible to show that postpartum depression in university student mothers is not explained only by individual factors, but also by structural and contextual conditions. It was identified that the participants faced various challenges that affected their emotional well-being, academic performance, and quality of life during the postpartum period. These findings highlight the importance for higher education institutions to recognize and address the particular needs of student mothers through the implementation of institutional strategies aimed at promoting the well-being and academic permanence of women going through this stage of their lives
