This thesis explores the relationship between academic performance and motivation in first B grade students at the Canadian School, focusing on the educational transition from preschool to primary school. This stage is crucial for children's holistic development as it involves significant adjustments to academic, social, and emotional demands. The study examines how motivation, understood as students' interest and willingness to learn, influences their academic performance during this transitional period. Using a mixed-method approach that combines classroom observation, teacher surveys, and academic performance analysis, key factors affecting this relationship are identified, such as family support, implemented teaching strategies, and adaptation to the new school environment. The findings highlight the importance of designing educational strategies that foster both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, promoting a smooth transition that positively impacts academic performance. Additionally, strengthening communication between families and teachers and adapting teaching practices to the emotional and cognitive needs of this developmental stage are recommended. This research contributes to understanding the essential role of motivation in early learning processes and emphasizes the need for a comprehensive educational approach to ensure students' academic success in their initial years of primary education.
