Abstract
This project proposes the design and implementation of a georeferenced digital map of the fire hydrants in the municipality of Girardot, Cundinamarca, as a technological tool to optimize the response times of the Official Fire Department during fire emergency situations. Currently, the institution lacks an updated system that accurately records the location of hydrants, which leads to critical operational delays and compromises the safety of the population, their property, and the surrounding environment. The proposed solution involves the development of an interactive platform through Google Maps, powered by geospatial data collected directly in the field using GPS devices, photographic records, and technical observations. This information will be systematized and validated in coordination with the operational personnel of the Girardot Fire Department. The study follows a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and adopts a descriptive and projective research design. The target population includes all hydrants in the municipality, applying a census sampling method. Data processing will be conducted using spreadsheets and integrated into an open-access Geographic Information System (GIS). From a technical standpoint, the proposal is economically viable, technologically feasible, and aligned with national and territorial policies related to risk management and institutional modernization. The expected main outcome is an interactive map accessible in real time from mobile devices and computers, enabling the identification of the nearest hydrant. The project directly contributes to the institutional strengthening of the Official Fire Department of Girardot by enhancing its planning and emergency response capabilities. Additionally, this tool is integrated as a key component of the institution's Emergency Plan, supporting the improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SGSST) by enhancing the response to critical incidents and protecting the lives and safety of firefighting personnel.
