dc.description.abstractEste trabajo de investigación explora cómo los habitantes del barrio Moravia de Medellín construyen memoria colectiva a partir de sus narrativas zerritoriales. Moravia, un territorio atravesado por profundas transformaciones sociales, urbanas y simbólicas, ha sido históricamente estigmatizado por su pasado como basurero municipal y las condiciones de marginalidad. Sin embargo, mediante una metodología cualitativa y un enfoque narrativo, se recuperan las voces de unos residentes para demostrar cómo los relatos permiten resignificar el territorio y fortalecer el sentido de pertenencia. Esta investigación revela que la memoria colectiva en Moravia se construye a partir de vivencias compartidas, la apropiación del espacio y la resistencia cultural. Estas narrativas están marcadas también por las luchas, la transformación y la esperanza, que son elementos que recuerdan un pasado doloroso pero que al tiempo proyecta una identidad barrial digna y valiosa. Es importante tener en cuenta la importancia de reconocer el papel activo de las comunidades en la producción de la ciudad. Desde un enfoque cualitativo y narrativo, se emplearon entrevistas semiestructuradas, observación participante y recorridos barriales como técnicas de recolección de información. El análisis se centró en comprender las memorias personales y colectivas de tres actores sociales con diversos perfiles; un líder ambiental, una lideresa comunitaria y un joven del barrio; cuyas historias permitieron construir un mosaico de vivencias que revelan las múltiples formas en que se configura el sentido de pertenencia y la identidad barrial. Los hallazgos demuestran que la memoria colectiva del barrio Moravia es una construcción viva, plural y afectiva que emerge del entrecruce de la experiencia individual, la apropiación del espacio y la resistencia cultural. Las narrativas compartidas están marcadas por el dolor, la pobreza, la lucha y la exclusión, pero también por la esperanza, la creatividad y la dignidad. La palabra se convierte, entonces, en una herramienta de transformación; narrar el barrio es también reconstruirlo, reivindicarlo y proyectarlo. Esta investigación resalta la importancia de reconocer a las comunidades como protagonistas en la producción simbólica de la ciudad, escuchar y documentar sus relatos permite reconocer mejor los procesos urbanos desde abajo y contribuye a la construcción de una memoria histórica más justa, inclusiva y humana.
dc.description.abstractThis research work explores how the inhabitants of the Moravia neighborhood in Medellín construct collective memory based on their territorial narratives. Moravia, a territory undergoing profound social, urban and symbolic transformations, has been historically stigmatized by its past as a municipal garbage dump and its marginal conditions. However, through a qualitative methodology and a narrative approach, the voices of some residents are recovered to demonstrate how the stories allow to re-signify the territory and strengthen the sense of belonging. This research reveals that collective memory in Moravia is built from shared experiences, the appropriation of space and cultural resistance. These narratives are also marked by struggles, transformation and hope, which are elements that recall a painful past but at the same time project a dignified and valuable neighborhood identity. It is important to consider the importance of recognizing the active role of communities in the production of the city. Using a qualitative and narrative approach, the study employed semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and neighborhood walks as data collection techniques. The analysis focused on understanding both personal and collective memories through the voices of three key social actors—a community environmental leader, a female grassroots organizer, and a young resident. Their stories compose a mosaic of experiences that illustrate the many ways in which territorial identity and a sense of belonging are shaped. The findings reveal that collective memory in Moravia is not a uniform or static narrative, but rather a living, plural, and emotional construction that emerges from the intersection of individual experiences, spatial appropriation, and cultural resistance. These narratives are marked by pain, poverty, struggle, and exclusion, but also by hope, creativity, and dignity. In this context, storytelling becomes a tool for transformation: to narrate the neighborhood is to reconstruct it, reclaim it, and project it into the future. This study emphasizes the importance of recognizing communities as active agents in the symbolic production of the city. Listening to and documenting their narratives not only enhances our understanding of grassroots urban processes but also contributes to the building of a more just, inclusive, and human historical memory.
