Abstract
The objective of this research is to analyze the different emotional, cognitive, and behavioral symptoms of parents or caregivers living in the municipality of Apartadó Antioquia, who are resilient to a diagnosis of motor disability, this research is quantitative, with non experimental observational design, and will be done in a descriptive cross-sectional manner, The sample consists of 30 parents and/or caregivers of children with motor disabilities, who have signed a consent form to participate in the study. The results of the study were analyzed using absolute frequency measures, such as frequency tables and graphs. In the main results of the research it is observed that parents and/or caregivers, at the moment of receiving the news about the motor disability of their children, enter into a state of deep sadness, feel guilt, fear, and develop a lot of anxiety, decide to move away from their environment, stop eating properly; at the exact moment they are notified they lose concentration and have problems following instructions, because at the moment they do not know what they will do or how they will face this new reality. Comprehensive care should be provided to the nuclear family, and not only to children with disabilities, since parents suffer a series of affectations, such as guilt, anxiety, fear, difficulty concentrating, and not socializing, alterations that they must overcome on several occasions alone, since all therapeutic attention is focused on the care of children and their needs, leaving aside the mental health of adults.
