Abstract
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychological condition that can develop after a traumatic event. This disorder can occur as a significant consequence of exposure to traumatic experiences during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, referring to situations of obstetric violence that can increase the risk of developing PTSD, which in turn can have adverse effects on mental health. Women's. The purpose of the study presented is to determine the main consequences of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) associated with obstetric violence in Latin America, recorded in the bibliography published between 2017 and 2024. For its development, a qualitative study is implemented, under the literature review method, 26 documents selected from the Semantic Scholar, Google Sholar and Pub Med databases are analyzed. The data from the articles were refined in two analysis matrices, one methodological and the other thematic, from which it was possible to verify the relevance of the topic under study in the scientific literature, which is not widely explored; however, it was found that PTSD can develop as a result of obstetric violence and its clinical manifestations for this type of trauma are the same as those described by the DMS-V with the variation that the mother may reject her child, which significantly impacts the maternal bond and affects the child's mental health. The review reveals a lack of studies that talk about PTSD and its relationship with obstetric violence, identifying that, although PTSD is important, there are more prevalent consequences such as postpartum depression and anxiety derived from obstetric violence.
