La influencia de las redes sociales en las campañas políticas locales del municipio de Tumaco, Nariño, evaluando cómo estas plataformas han transformado la comunicación entre candidatos y ciudadanos. Resalta el papel de redes como Facebook y TikTok, que dominan la preferencia de los usuarios, y detalla cómo estas herramientas digitales fomentan la participación política, modifican percepciones y afectan decisiones electorales. Aunque se reconocen beneficios, también se identifican riesgos, como la desinformación y el uso de estrategias publicitarias que carecen de autenticidad. El estudio utiliza una metodología cuantitativa basada en encuestas aplicadas a 138 habitantes de Tumaco. El estudio revela que plataformas como Facebook y TikTok desempeñan un papel crucial en la interacción entre candidatos y ciudadanos. La mayoría de los participantes (67,4%) sigue contenido político en redes, con una frecuencia diaria significativa (52,9%), lo que subraya el impacto de estas herramientas digitales en la formación de opiniones políticas. Sin embargo, también se destaca que el 90.6% de los encuestados percibe que estas plataformas amplifican la desinformación, lo que genera desconfianza en su uso para contenido político, a pesar de que un 51.4% admite haber votado influenciado por información obtenida en redes. Por otra parte, los resultados evidencian que los videos son el formato más atractivo (62,3%), mientras que un 85,6% considera que las redes son efectivas para las campañas políticas
The influence of social networks on local political campaigns in the municipality of Tumaco, Nariño, evaluating how these platforms have transformed communication between candidates and citizens. It highlights the role of networks such as Facebook and TikTok, which dominate user preference, and details how these digital tools encourage political participation, modify perceptions, and affect electoral decisions. Although benefits are recognized, risks are also identified, such as misinformation and the use of advertising strategies that lack authenticity. The study uses a quantitative methodology based on surveys applied to 138 inhabitants of Tumaco. The study reveals that platforms such as Facebook and TikTok play a crucial role in the interaction between candidates and citizens. The majority of participants (67.4%) follow political content on social networks, with a significant daily frequency (52.9%), which underlines the impact of these digital tools in the formation of political opinions. However, it is also highlighted that 90.6% of respondents perceive that these platforms amplify misinformation, which generates distrust in their use for political content, despite the fact that 51.4% admit to having voted influenced by information obtained on social networks. On the other hand, the results show that videos are the most attractive format (62.3%), while 85.6% consider that social networks are effective for political campaigns. Social networks not only facilitate the dissemination of political content, but also mobilize users towards offline activities, such as political events (55.8%). In addition, 82.6% value that candidates are active on social networks, perceiving this interaction as a positive approach.
