Abstract
El fenómeno del alto consumo de alcohol entre estudiantes universitarios, especialmente en disciplinas como la psicología, ha generado preocupación debido a su impacto en el rendimiento académico, en este contexto, la Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios (UNIMINUTO) se enfrenta a este desafío. Se realiza un estudio de caso con tres estudiantes de psicología de UNIMINUTO, para explorar su percepción sobre los efectos del consumo de alcohol en el rendimiento académico, según investigaciones, el consumo excesivo de alcohol presenta serios riesgos para la salud pública, con una alta prevalencia en América Latina, incluyendo Colombia, donde se observa un aumento en el consumo entre la población juvenil. Este patrón de consumo se asocia con consecuencias físicas, emocionales y académicas negativas, como ausentismo y bajo rendimiento. La investigación propuesta busca crear conciencia entre los estudiantes de psicología e investigar sobre los riesgos del consumo de alcohol y recopilar datos sobre ausentismo y deserción académica. Se propone utilizar la entrevista motivacional (EM) como una herramienta para explorar y resolver la ambivalencia hacia el cambio en los estudiantes que enfrentan problemas relacionados con el consumo de alcohol. En esta investigación se puede destacar la importancia que tiene la psicología cognitiva que busca comprender los factores que influyen en el consumo de alcohol, en conclusión, el alto consumo de alcohol entre estudiantes universitarios es un problema grave que requiere mucha indagación. La investigación propuesta busca contribuir a la comprensión de este fenómeno, así como a la mejora del rendimiento académico y la salud pública de los estudiantes de psicología de UNIMINUTO.
The phenomenon of high alcohol consumption among university students, especially in disciplines such as psychology, has generated concern due to its impact on academic performance; in this context, the Minuto de Dios University Corporation (UNIMINUTO) faces this challenge. A case study is carried out with three psychology students from the Minto de Dios university corporation, to explore their perception of the effects of alcohol consumptionon academic performance. According to research, excessive alcohol consumption presents serious risks to public health. , with a high prevalence in Latin America, including Colombia, where an increase in consumption is observed among the youth population. This pattern of consumption is associated with negative physical, emotional, and academic consequences, such as absenteeism and poor performance. The proposed research seeks to raise awareness among psychology students and investigate the risks of alcohol consumption and collect data on absenteeism and academic dropouts. It is proposed to use motivational interviewing (MI) as a tool to explore and resolve ambivalence towards change in students who face problems related to alcohol consumption. In this research, we can highlight the importance of cognitive psychology that seeks to understand the factors that influence alcohol consumption. In conclusion, high alcohol consumption among university students is a serious problem that requires a lot of investigation. The proposed research seeks to contribute to the understanding of this phenomenon, as well as to improve the academic performance and public health of UNIMINUTO psychology students.
