his research analyzes the influence of maternal Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) on the psychosocial development of children aged 6–12, understanding that this is a crucial period for identity construction, as well as for emotional regulation and the development of social skills. The research context and problem stem from the few studies that focus on agents external to the affected individual directly. The research was based on the need to give visibility to the children of mothers diagnosed with BPD, given that most studies have focused on the diagnosed individual and not on their immediate support network. The overall objective was to analyze the influence of BPD on the psychosocial development of children of diagnosed mothers through a documentary review of research published between 2006 and 2025. A qualitative method was applied, using a content analysis design and based on a systematic documentary review. The sample consisted of 11 studies that met the established inclusion criteria (mothers with a confirmed clinical diagnosis of BPD and children between 6 and 12 years of age). Document analysis matrices and the PRISMA flowchart were used as techniques, ensuring rigor in the selection process and data synthesis. The conclusions show that children of mothers with BPD present greater psychosocial risks, summarized in difficulty regulating emotions, low self-esteem, school problems, and conflicts in social relationships. However, positive aspects were also demonstrated, such as the fact that motherhood could give the mother a sense of purpose, as well as the possibility that expanding interventions could promote positive parenting styles. As a main conclusion, it can be highlighted that the influence of maternal BPD on the child's psychosocial development is multifactorial, posing both risks and opportunities for resilience. These findings also reveal the need for interdisciplinary and systemic interventions that move beyond individuality and promote community, thereby preventing the intergenerational transmission of emotional and behavioral difficulties.
