Abstract
Traditional mining in the Department of Cundinamarca plays an important role in the development of the economy of its inhabitants. Specifically, the Municipality of Lenguazaque has been dedicated to the work of coal exploitation and extraction for many generations. However, the activities developed by the extraction and exploitation of coal have generated socio-environmental impacts, causing effects of climate change in the municipality. Currently, climate change is the environmental and social challenge facing humanity, not only because it affects the quality of life, the structure of the ecosystem and the development of the territories, but because it demands taking decisions that allow the union of initiatives and provisions that can guarantee the future of generations to come. To understand the socio-environmental actions that the population of the municipality implements to adapt and mitigate the adverse effects caused by climate change in the territory, this research was addressed from 3 fundamental categories of analysis: institutional planning, the relationship with the environment and the environmental impact. We aim to study the perspectives that the different actors perceive about the environmental alterations that occur in the municipality and how they contribute to the mitigation of climate effects in a way that is sustainable to minimize the environmental and climate footprint in the region.
