dc.description.abstractColombia tiene el privilegio de poseer una de las faunas más variadas delmundo, debido en parte a su ubicación ecuatorial y a la compleja topografía del país; aunque otra variedad de factores probablemente favorece tambiénesta alta biodiversidad (Defler, 2010). Es uno de los países con mayor número de especies de primates, junto con Brasil, Zaire, Camerún, Indonesia, Madagascar y Perú (Mittermeier y Oates, 1985); sin embargo, no es posible saber con absoluta certeza el número de especies de primates que habitan en Colombia.
