Análisis Financiero a Consecuencia de una Contingencia Ambiental en un Campo Petrolero

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo analizar los impactos financieros y operativos de una contingencia ambiental en un campo petrolero del departamento del Meta, Colombia, desde la percepción de los niveles operativos, profesionales y gerenciales. La investigación se centró en un evento relacionado con un derrame de crudo y las consecuencias de este sobre el medio ambiente y las operaciones internas de la empresa. El enfoque cuantitativo permitió investigar cómo estos tres niveles organizacionales perciben la preparación y respuesta ante el incidente, así como los procedimientos implementados para mitigar la contingencia. A través de encuestas aplicadas a los diferentes niveles organizacionales, se examinaron tres áreas clave: la efectividad de las estrategias de gestión de riesgos, la viabilidad financiera de las medidas de prevención y mitigación, y el grado en que el incidente ha impulsado a la empresa a adoptar prácticas más sostenibles y éticas. Además, el estudio puso de manifiesto que las contingencias ambientales pueden actuar como catalizadores para la adopción de prácticas más sostenibles; sin embargo, también se advirtió sobre el riesgo de implementaciones superficiales que no aborden problemas estructurales.
The objective of this study is to analyze the financial and operational impacts of an environmental contingency in an oil field in the department of Meta, Colombia, from the perception of the operational, professional and managerial levels. The research focused on an event related to an oil spill and its consequences on the environment and the company's internal operations. The quantitative approach allowed investigating how these three organizational levels perceive the preparation and response to the incident, as well as the procedures implemented to mitigate the contingency. Through surveys applied to the different organizational levels, three key areas were examined: the effectiveness of risk management strategies, the financial viability of prevention and mitigation measures, and the degree to which the incident has prompted the company to adopt more sustainable and ethical practices. Furthermore, the study highlighted that environmental contingencies can act as catalysts for the adoption of more sustainable practices; however, it also warned of the risk of superficial implementations that do not address structural issues.
