Title:	Uniminuto and his social commitment to childhood Uniminuto y su compromiso social con la infancia

Description:	This article briefly describes some of the conceptualizations of childhood education that have been evolving along time and that have contributed to an understanding of children as rights holders, leading to the emergence of different social, political, and academic movements, which make their determination evident in the creation of national and international organizations to guarantee the children’s well-being. UNIMINUTO responds to its social commitment with the creation of the undergraduate program in childhood pedagogy as an alternative of vocational training that will make the existence of society possible. Este artículo recorre brevemente las concepciones de infancia que en el transcurrir de los años se han transformado de manera sustancial, hasta llegar a una comprensión en la que a los niños y niñas se les reconoce como sujetos de derechos, lo cual induce al surgimiento de diferentes movimientos sociales, políticos y académicos, entre otros, que evidencian su fuerza de trabajo en la creación de organizaciones internacionales y nacionales para garantizar el bienestar integral de la población infantil. En este contexto, UNIMINUTO, en su compromiso social con la Infancia, responde con la creación de la Licenciatura en Pedagogía Infantil como una alternativa de formación que hará posible la existencia de la sociedad.
