Estudio teórico sobre vejez y envejecimiento

Abstract

El presente trabajo de investigación precisa identificar las principales teorías que han aportado al estudio de la vejez y el envejecimiento durante los últimos 10 años que permitan la elaboración de un marco conceptual pertinente para la disciplina de trabajo social. El estudio se fundamenta en aspectos teóricos como: Calidad de vida, teoría del desarrollo humano y envejecimiento, teoría a escala humana y vejez, y teorías sociológicas y vejez, con líneas de investigación integradas como la psicología, medicina, enfermería, trabajo social desde una perspectiva social. Para lograr el objetivo se emplea una investigación documental desde el enfoque cualitativo, permitiendo la recolección de información sobre el envejecimiento y la vejez. Las teorías que han aportado al estudio de la vejez y el envejecimiento, están influenciadas por el por el bienestar físico, social, emocional, espiritual, intelectual y ocupacional que le permite satisfacer necesidades a los adultos mayores. En conclusión, como trabajadores sociales, uno de los grandes retos, es la necesidad de integrarnos de forma multidisciplinar y multisectorial, no solo para enfrentar este fenómeno del envejecimiento poblacional desde el punto de vista social, sino también, en el orden individual, para lograr que la población envejezca con calidad.

The present research work needs to identify the main theories that have contributed to the study of old age and aging during the last 10 years that allow the elaboration of a pertinent conceptual framework for the discipline of social work. The study is based on theoretical aspects such as: Quality of life, theory of human development and aging, theory on a human scale and old age, and sociological and old age theories, with integrated lines of research such as psychology, medicine, nursing, social work from a social perspective. To achieve the objective, documentary research is used from the qualitative approach, allowing the collection of information on aging and old age. The theories that have contributed to the study of old age and aging are influenced by the physical, social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual and occupational well-being that allows the needs of older adults to be met. In conclusion, as social workers, one of the great challenges is the need to integrate in a multidisciplinary and multisectoral way, not only to face this phenomenon of population aging from the social point of view, but also, in the individual order, to achieve that the population ages with quality
