The THE MERLEAU-PONTIAN INTERBODY IDENTITY. THE PRIMORDIAL SILENCE OF ASSOCIATED BODIES: El silencio primordial de los cuerpos asociados

Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate, from the Merleau-Pontian phenomenology, the link between identity and corporeality, which is configured through an open plot of changing, intercorporeal and gestural meanings. In order to argue this relationship, first, the primacy of the body as identity support is reflected; second, it is analyzed why the body is the expression that allows to enunciate some elements that are instituted and instituting in the identity of a person; third, the reversible character of the bodily memory that escapes the will of the subject in the unfolding of his identity is presented. Finally, a notion of identity is constructed that highlights the role of the original silence through which the constant institution of the body-in-the-world is expressed.

Este artículo tiene como objetivo demostrar, desde la fenomenología merleau-pontiana, el vínculo existente entre la identidad y la corporalidad que se configura mediante una trama abierta de significaciones cambiantes, intercorporales y gestuales. Para argumentar esta relación, primero, se reflexiona la primacía del cuerpo como soporte identitario; segundo, se analiza por qué el cuerpo es la expresión que permite enunciar algunos elementos que son instituidos e instituyentes en la identidad de una persona; tercero, se presenta el carácter reversible de la memoria corporal que se escapa de la voluntad del sujeto en el despliegue de su identidad. Finalmente, se construye una noción de identidad que destaca el papel del silencio originario mediante el cual se expresa la constante institución del cuerpo-en-el-mundo.
