The teaching of “recent history” and political transition in Colombia: constants, fractures and new horizons

Abstract

In the following article, we defend the hypothesis that peace will not have sense without an important change in the educational order. Therefore, we explore the problems of teaching “recent history” in educational contexts in transition processes in two parts. First, we analyze the conceptual discussions about “recent history” and “present history” (genesis and transformation). Second, we present the aims and mechanisms that have contributed to the consolidation of the teaching of “recent history” in Colombia.

En este artículo defendemos la hipótesis de que la paz no tendrá sentido sin un cambio importante en el orden educativo. Por ello, exploramos las problemáticas de la enseñanza de la historia del tiempo reciente en contextos educativos y sus procesos de transición en dos apartados: Primero, analizamos las discusiones conceptuales sobre la historia del tiempo presente y reciente (génesis y transformación). En el segundo, presentamos los fines y mecanismos que han contribuido a la consolidación de la enseñanza de la historia reciente en Colombia.
