Semantic variations of the concept of violence in the novel The Armies by Evelio Rosero

Abstract

The analytical perspective that the phenomenon of violence offers us as a literary theme, raises us both ruptures and communicating bridges in the face of the development that this theme has had in Colombian literature. These Ruptures and these bridges express various meanings that are palpable in the novel Los Armies by the Colombian writer Evelio Rosero. Therefore, the present narratological investigation aims to understand the semantic content of the concept of violence through the subjectivities of the characters analyzed within the literary work. That of Ismael Pasos, the main character whose autodiegetic narration reveals the various feelings that are awakened in an extremely violent context.

La perspectiva analítica que nos ofrece el fenómeno de la violencia como tema literario, nos plantea tanto rupturas como puentes comunicantes frente al desarrollo que ha tenido esta temática en las letras colombianas. Estas Rupturas y estos puentes expresan diversos significados que se hacen palpables en la novela Los ejércitos del escritor colombiano Evelio Rosero. Por tanto, la presente investigación de tinte narratológico pretende comprender el contenido semántico del concepto de violencia a través de las subjetividades de los personajes analizados dentro de la citada obra literaria. En especial, la de Ismael Pasos, personaje principal cuya narración autodiegética nos revela los diversos sentires emocionales que se despiertan en un contexto, en extremo, violento.
