Abstract
Developing argumentation processes implies possessing written and oral skills to take a position on a certain topic that will depend on particular contexts, and will allow the student to participate from their point of view in discussions, debates and other academic conversations, giving critical opinions supported by valid arguments. This monograph seeks to analyze the ways in which the students' argumentation skills are presented, orally and in writing, in their mother tongue and in the foreign language -English-. The study was carried out at the Cristo Rey School in Bogotá, the focus group included 20 students with an advanced B2 level of English, which allowed an analysis from both languages, English as a foreign language and Spanish as their mother tongue. It was analyzed through a total of four workshops, two in Spanish and two in English. The workshops included a theoretical explanation of the topic, an oral activity and a written activity. Data was taken from these workshops to analyze them through a systematization based on hermeneutics, in order to know their performance in each language and how they develop it.
