El Parque Tecnológio Orión del Tecnológico de Monterrey

El Parque Tecnológico Orión es considerado un caso de éxito de parque tecnológico universitario. En operación desde el 2006, se formó a partir de la convergencia del sector empresarial con el Tecnológico de Monterrey (universidad privada con 26 campus en México) y el soporte del gobierno estatal. Este espacio ha tenido un impacto en la economía local, con una contribución del 0.6% en el PIB de la ciudad. El objetivo de este capítulo es explicar el contexto, creación, desarrollo e impacto de esta iniciativa. Los resultados presentados en el caso del Parque Tecnológico Orión son una manifestación evidente de la Cuádruple Hélice, pues se derivan del esfuerzo de años de trabajo y del liderazgo de muchos actores e instituciones, y deben ser concebidos como iniciativas de largo plazo.
The Orion Technology Park at the Tecnológico de Monterrey’s Chihuahua Campus is considered a university technology park success story. In operation since 2006, it achieved an impact on the local economy contributing 0.6% to the city’s GDP. Develped from the convergence of the business sector, Tecnológico de Monterrey (a private university with 26 campuses in Mexico) and the support of the State Government. The goal of this chapter is to explain the context, creation, development, and impact of this initiative. Efforts such as the Orion Technology Park are the result of years of work and the leadership of many actors and institutions, a clear manifestation of the Quadruple Helix, and should be conceived as long-term initiatives.
