Reflections on the University relates to UNIMINUTO

Abstract

This reflection article wants to review, from a non-disciplinary perspective, the three issues of university work called its "substantive functions": the teaching and learning processes (teaching), the production of knowledge (research), and the relationship with society (social projection or extension), which as a whole and relationship would make up what would be its primary function, that is, training. It is carried out from a place and a context: the experience of thirty years of life, search, and service of the Minuto de Dios University Corporation - UNIMINUTO. It is concluded in favor, not of an impossible return to a golden age that, by the way, never existed, but of maintaining an irreducible and fruitful tension between different orders and styles of rationality in the university and in society.

Este artículo de reflexión quiere revisar, desde una perspectiva indisciplinar, las tres cuestiones propias del quehacer universitario llamadas sus “funciones sustantivas”: los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje (docencia), la producción de conocimientos (investigación) y la relación con la sociedad (proyección social o extensión), las cuales en su conjunto y relación conformarían su función primordial, es decir, la formación. Se realiza desde un lugar y un contexto: la experiencia de treinta años de vida, búsqueda y servicio de la Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios – UNIMINUTO. Se concluye a favor, no de un regreso imposible a una edad de oro que, por lo demás, nunca existió, sino de mantener una tensión irreductible y fructífera entre diversos órdenes y estilos de racionalidad en la universidad y en la sociedad.
