Este escrito hace un análisis de la imagen como la base de la cultura visual y sus características más relevantes en el contexto social, así como el campo de conocimiento que constituyen sus estudios y sus prácticas. La cultura como campo de batalla y sus procesos estructurantes de producción, distribución y recepción y su relación con los medios de comunicación o de difusión, el concepto de cultura que maneja la educación, obras de arte, maneras de comportamiento social según un vademécum, y sobre todo refinamiento, como si éste únicamente dependiera de lo económico y ocultara el enfrentamiento con las viandas diversas y suculentas de la realidad sociocultural. Lo visual y el orden de la mirada. El mirar que somete al ojo a una invasión de significados culturalmente acordados o en proceso de transformación, desde la producción, circulación, recepción y consumo mediático de la imagen y las implicaciones dentro de los procesos educativos.
