The present text shows in a summarized way the main proposals of Tomas Hobbes about Leviathan’s birth (Book II). The Leviathan is understood by the English philosopher as the authority to whom peace is due amongst men. It is selfish by nature. From the distinction between the State of war and the Civil State; the exposure to the nature laws; and the main approaches about the establishment and the contract compliance, I will proceed to expose through a case of the Colombian political reality in which currently it is possible to find the Leviathan that governs through fear. |
