This research is carried out due to the increase in the use of non-conventional linguistic terms
and expressions used in everyday life, both by inhabitants in general, as well as by those
immersed in the academic field. Taking into account that students, mainly those trained in social
communication and journalism programs, are closely related to the use of language, the
phenomenon was approached from various angles to determine if the use of so-called inclusive
language has any impact. in the field of development of communications professionals. For the
exercise, interviews and surveys were conducted, mainly with five groups linked to the academy:
professors and professors, students of the social communication and journalism program,
professionals graduated from the journalism program, students of other programs and
administrative staff of UNIMINUTO – Girardot. These procedures were carried out in person
through physical surveys and also through virtual formats. Calculation programs were used for
tabulation to reach precise quantifiable conclusions, and, in addition, a qualitative analysis of
the results was also carried out in order to confirm or refute the hypothesis of whether the use of
inclusive language could change the perspective of performance and the quality of the products
developed by journalism professionals, by misusing their main work tool, such as language. All
the tabulations showed very high percentages in favor of the importance of the good use of
language and its impact on professional work. Surprisingly, despite the youth being the ones
who use inclusive language the most, they were the ones who most recognized the importance
of making correct use of the language, which is why spaces must be opened to address the issue
and rethink the training given based on these. results.
