Title:	Alfabetización visual como medio para la comprensión de la interculturalidad en Girardot

These traces are represented in the works of art, monuments and urban furniture that still has the population. However, Girardot’s inhabitants are unaware of the origins as well as the meaning and in many cases the very existence of these objects. Therefore, the research project plans to draw up an inventory of the art objects of the city and its regions, aiming to make visible both the existence and the meaning of the same, to own and to strangers. The notion of visual literacy, presented by Raquel Gómez Díaz (2010), is used as a theoretical and methodological tool with which it was expected to advance a process of analyzing that inventory. This, in order to be able to understand this important point of social, economic and cultural convergence of the region, as a scenario of tolerance, coexistence and acceptance of diversity. En este artículo se propone la idea de entender a la ciudad de Girardot como una comunidad cultural abierta en la que se pueden identificar huellas de la antigua actividad comercial asociada al papel fundamental que jugó este centro urbano a principios y mediados del siglo pasado, cuando era uno de los principales puertos fluviales de Colombia. Estas huellas se ven representadas en las obras de arte, monumentos y mobiliario urbano con el que aún cuenta la población y, sin embargo, sus habitantes desconocen el origen, el significado y en muchos casos la existencia misma de estos objetos. El proyecto de investigación del que este escrito es resultado propone, por tanto, elaborar un inventario de los objetos de arte de la ciudad y sus regiones con miras a visibilizar tanto la existencia, como el significado de los mismos, a propios y a extraños. La noción de alfabetización visual, presentada por Raquel Gómez Díaz (2010), es utilizada como herramienta teórica y metodológica con la que se pretendía adelantar un proceso de análisis de ese inventario para, de este modo, poder llegar a entender a este importante punto de convergencia social, económica y cultural de la región, como un escenario de tolerancia, convivencia y aceptación de la diversidad.
