Title:	The sublime in augustinian art Lo sublime en el arte agustiniano

Description:	Throughout this article, an intrinsic relationship is formulated between the pre-Columbian culture known as San Agustin and the aesthetic concept Sublime. This relationship pretends to display how can a theoretical approach proposed in a diametrically contrasting context, be confronted with a later period to the development of San Agustin’s culture. In addition to evidence the conditions and geographical circumstances pre-Columbian habitants experienced daily, it led them to build a system of social, religious and plastic expression. That nowadays permits us to admire the atemporality of their art, allowing it to be understood to the light of the proposed theoretical concept. Definitely is an encounter between art and aesthetic, subjectivity and feeling with the reflexive and rational thought; they are two sources that accomplish to canalize a sole purpose: amaze in the sculptural pre-Columbian creation and deepen into the philosophic reflection of the aesthetic concept. Se formula una relación intrínseca entre la cultura precolombina conocida como san agustín y el concepto estético sublime. en ella se pretende mostrar de qué manera un planteamiento teórico propuesto en un contexto diametralmente contario y en una época posterior al desarrollo de dicha cultura, puede ser confrontado con ésta y, a su vez, evidenciar las condiciones y circunstancias geográficas que afrontaron diariamente estos habitantes precolombinos, que les a llevó a construir un sistema social, religioso y de expresión plástica, desde el cual hoy podemos admirar la atemporalidad de su arte, que permite ser entendido a la luz del concepto teórico. es, en definitiva, un encuentro entre el arte y la estética, entre el sentimiento y la subjetividad con el pensamiento reflexivo y racional; son dos vertientes que logran canalizarse en un solo propósito: maravillarse en la creación escultórica precolombina y adentrarse en la reflexión filosófica del concepto estético.
