Description:	El presente artículo se encuentra dividido en dos apartados. En el primero, se da cuenta de cómo es que el Estado concebido por Hobbes, tiene como su principal objetivo garantizar la seguridad en la sociedad política. Ahora bien, el detalle a considerar es que esta forma de plantear los alcances del Estado termina desplazando considerablemente otras metas estatales (el bien común, la felicidad, la protección de las libertades, etc.) que, sin embargo, tuvieron especial relevancia en los proyectos filosóficos –políticos de la tradición clásica y de no pocos filósofos contemporáneos con Hobbes. Por ello, el Estado hobbesiano resulta mínimo con relación a una posible intervención en ámbitos como el social y el económico, pero expansivo en lo que respecta a las medidas que se puedan tomar para combatir la inseguridad. En el segundo apartado se establece una relación entre dicho Estado hobbesiano y el avance contemporáneo de los Estados de orientación neoliberal legitimados casi exclusivamente por su función policial en un escenario internacional marcado por el miedo y la inseguridad. This article is divided into two sections. In the first, he will realize how it is that the state conceived by Hobbes has as its main objective to ensure security in political society. However, the detail to be considered is that this way of raising the scope of the State ends up significantly displacing other state goals (the common good, happiness, protection of freedoms, etc.), which, however, had a special relevance in the Philosophical-political projects of the classical tradition and not a few contemporary philosophers with Hobbes. For this reason, the Leviathan State is minimal in relation to possible intervention in areas such as social and economic, but expansive in terms of measures that can be taken to ensure security.On the other hand, the second section will establish a relationship between this Hobbesian State and the contemporary advance of neoliberal States legitimated almost exclusively by their police role in an international scenario marked by fear and insecurity.
