El presente artículo ofrece una mirada general de la irrupción de la Ilustración en Hispanoamérica a finales del siglo xviii, especialmente en el ámbito dela educación, y su articulación con algunas de las dinámicas sociales que se presentaron en la tensión entre la metrópoli y las provincias ultramarinasen el último periodo colonial del Imperio Español. El objetivo de esta revisión es mostrar la importancia política de las reflexiones sobre la educación en la América dieciochesca y su relación con el contexto social, para así disipar ideas finalistas sobre el periodo de la Independencia. En este sentido, sepretende rastrear, en un periodo histórico particular, la relación entre las ideas y los procesos sociales. |

This article offers a general view of the irruption of the Enlightenment in Spanish America at the end of the eighteenth century, especially in the field of education, and its articulation with some of the social dynamics that arose in the tension between the metropolis and the ultramarine provinces in the last colonial period of the Spanish Empire. The objective of this review is to show the political importance of the reflections on education in eighteenth-century America and its relationship with the social context, in order to dispel finalist ideas about the period of Independence. In this sense, it is intended to trace, ina particular historical period, the relationship between ideas and social processes. |
