This article collects a series of data and quotes that allow us to get closer to a general idea of the main issues of the municipality of Girardot-Cundinamarca (Colombia) which is considered as the axis of a very important sub-region of the country center. In this sense, the subject of this article is the socio-economic and cultural characteristics of the population and the changes that it has been object of, as well as its areas of influence – it means the populations of the Upper Magdalena and Tequendama region-. Likewise, we will report some evidences regarding how the most relevant transformation of the city has been documented. Which consists of how Girardot went from being the busiest port on the Magdalena River in the country, to become the most important commercial and tourist center of Cundinamarca after Bogotá? |

Este artículo recopila una serie de datos y citas que permiten acercarnos a una idea general de las principales temáticas del municipio de GirardotCundinamarca (Colombia), considerado como el eje de una subregión muy importante del centro del país. En este sentido, son tema de este escrito las características socioeconómicas y culturales de la población y los cambios de los que esta y sus zonas de influencia, es decir, las poblaciones de la región del Alto Magdalena y Tequendama, han sido objeto. Asimismo, reportaremos algunas evidencias sobre la forma en que ha sido documentada la transformación más relevante de la ciudad, la cual consiste, a grandes rasgos, en que pasó de ser el puerto de mayor actividad sobre el río Magdalena en el país, para convertirse en el centro comercial y turístico más relevante de Cundinamarca después de Bogotá. |
